Transport safety in Greenland Greenland is a safe destination to travel to. Both on the water and in the air Greenland is subject to some of the world’s strictest safety regulations. Greenland thus satisfies the European standards with respect to safety in connection with cruise ships calling at port, whilst the country’s national airline company, Air Greenland, has also drawn up its own safety regulations. These are among the strictest in the world and are adapted to the Arctic climate.
If you experience a cancellation of a flight or a trip by boat during your journey in Greenland, it will be in the interests of your safety and comfort. Greenland has hitherto not been affected by terrorist threats, nor is there a risk of natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions or tsunamis.
Safety and street crime In Greenland you can walk around the streets in complete safety at any time of the day or night. Street crime against guests and foreigners is practically non-existent. However, with regard to theft, you should, as is always the case when travelling, take basic precautions and not leave cameras, mobile phones and similar items unattended.
