With its 160 kilometres over three days, previous competitors have called the Arctic Circle Race the world’s toughest cross-country race, not least because two nights are spent in tents out in the wilderness between the race days.
The Arctic Circle Race is held near Sisimiut on Greenland’s west coast in the middle of magnificent Greenlandic scenery, where the competitors are surrounded by endless snow landscapes and by the human warmth and helpfulness of the many volunteers and other competitors.

Good physical fitness, mental toughness and a real spirit of adventure are the most important qualities for competitors once the starting gun has signalled the start of the Arctic Circle Race. At night the skiers sleep in tents in the middle of the Arctic wilderness, whilst during the race itself they are accompanied by dogsleds for safety reasons.
