To see Greenland from the water is the best way of experiencing the world's biggest island, and in fact provides the best chance of seeing whales and getting close to the huge icebergs.
The trip begins with three days in Kangerlussuaq (Søndre Strømfjord), where there is a chance to see musk oxen and reindeer close to the Ice Sheet. From here the voyage continues north along the beautiful and dramatic west coast of Greenland.

The ship passes the Sisimiut Isortuat fjord, Nordre Strømfjord, the settlements of Attu and Ikerasaarsuk, as well as the small town of Kangaatsiaq. On the fifth day the ship is scheduled to reach the south-western part of Disko Bay and will lay alongside the quay at Qeqertarsuaq/Godhavn, which is known for its 1000-metre (3300-foot) high basalt mountains and numerous whales.
The voyage then crosses Disko Bay towards Eqip Sermia, which is an active, calving glacier. Ilulissat is reached on the same day and travellers will have plenty of opportunity to experience the town's famous ice fjord.
From Ilulissat the ship heads south once more towards the final stop at Sisimiut, which is Greenland's second largest town, before setting course once again for one of the world's longest fjords, Kangerlussuaq.
Ocean Nova was built in 1982 to carry passengers along the coast of West Greenland and was refitted as a cruise ship in 2006, a refit that included a large panoramic salon. It has 43 large, outside cabins, all with own bathroom and toilet.
