The tour and adventure operator Nordic Adventure, which is based in Copenhagen, has organised a number of unique trips with former members of the Sirius Patrol, so that adventurous travellers can gain an insight into life on top of the world. The guides are experts in the Arctic and have a great deal of experience and knowledge of the skills needed to survive in such conditions, including the ability to get one's bearings and living in and off the natural surroundings.
Travel by dogsled, plane or boat
During the summer season the trip starts in Mestervig and then continues primarily by boat. During the winter the trip starts in Ittoqqortoormiit/Scoresbysund, where the group of min. 4 and max. 10 travellers goes by dogsled as far north as possible heading towards the National Park. The group is then picked up by a small plane, which takes them further out onto the ice.
The National Park is the world's largest nature conservation area and covers almost 1 million km2. There are no more than 27 people living there and the area is rich in some of Greenland's most spectacular mammals such as polar bears, musk oxen, walruses and several species of whale.
The trip lasts at least 14 days and can take up to 4 weeks. For more information, contact Nordic Adventure on telephone +45 33 32 04 27 or e-mail kontakt@nordic-adventure.dk
